The first twelve Star Wars figures appeared in the UK in 1978. The packaging for these figures was almost identical to the packaging released in the USA, with the main difference being the large colourful Palitoy logo in place of the American Kenner symbol. There is also no serial number or price tag box in the top left corner of the card front. The reverse of the card shows the twelve figures from this first series, plus three vehicles that accompanied the action figures. There are also instructions on the card on how to operate the double telescoping lightsabre that some of the figures initially came with. This lightsabre was later revised to operate as a single piece to reduce manufacturing costs. The double-telescoping lightsabre figures are extremely rare, and it is not known whether any appeared in Palitoy packaging.
